Test Kit Use Policy
As part of the services provided by Pipeline Testing Consortium, Inc. (PTC), drug and alcohol testing kits are supplied to client offices via FedEx or United Parcel Service (UPS). Standard ground shipping is included in the consortium annual fee. However, clients will incur additional charges for overnight, 2nd-day air, Saturday delivery, and all single-kit shipments.
All testing kits are uniquely printed for each PTC client and are to be used exclusively for that client’s testing needs.
Authorized Use of Test Kits
All non-eTEST drug and alcohol testing must be conducted using the PTC-provided kits, which include forms and materials designed for use with our designated laboratory and Medical Review Officer (MRO). PTC does not accept test results conducted using unauthorized laboratories, MROs, or forms, with the following exception:
- Federal drug testing results from other labs/MROs may be accepted only when transferring existing records for new clients or acquisitions by current PTC clients.
Modification Prohibition
PTC strongly discourages any modification of the Custody and Control Form (CCF) or other test kit materials by clients or collection sites. Use of alternate lab forms or altered documents often leads to:
- Reporting delays
- Billing complications
- Cancelled or invalid tests
- Additional charges for reprocessing
Any modification must be pre-approved by PTC in writing and will be authorized only in limited, case-specific situations. Even with approval, PTC does not guarantee that errors will not occur and cannot accept liability for resulting issues. Clients are financially responsible for any errors or test reprocessing required due to unauthorized modifications.
Kit Inventory & Ordering
Each client is responsible for maintaining an adequate inventory of test kits. Kits can be reordered:
- Via the client’s PTC Online account > Order Kits (located in header)
- Via the Order Kits tab at www.pipelinetesting.com
Kits must not be shipped to or stored at PTC collection sites. Doing so leads to common collection errors, such as:
- Misrouting of test results or confidential information
- Misfiled paperwork
- Incorrect billing
These errors may result in test cancellations or additional service charges, for which the client is responsible.
